Job hunting sucks, and for reasons that are stupid. It’s a bit of an orphan disease - people looking for work are the lepers of our moment, and everything is broken.

So paradoxically, while candidates are competing against more random AI garbage than ever before in employers’ inboxes, application systems / ATS etc. are frustrating, arbitrary, and every employer wants you to take time answering their (often sub-par) questions that 99 times out of 100 are only going to be read by an AI anyway.

So what? What’s a little inconvenience, you’ve got time on your hands, right?

Even if that were true, the process is its own form of punishment. The inconvenience is only the insult added to the injury of being forced to sell yourself, to sell your brand, to justify your existence and to answer the implicit and everready question, “why should I hire you?”

The answer is, “because you can’t do what I can, so either hire me or leave me alone.”

Take it too seriously, you’ll go insane. Don’t take it seriously at all, you’ll go hungry.

AI is taking jobs, and AI is making finding a job into its own job. So why not task AI with the job of getting humans a job?
